Some other c-words to focus on right now.

March 2020

Many of us may feel overwhelmed and overloaded by the news of the Coronavirus/CORVID-19 and are struggling to navigate this new normal. Instead of adding to the C-word noise, I wanted to share some alternatives for you to find a little respite.

Be it cooking, crochet, cardio or cats, for me, I find it can be helpful to get back in touch with everyday things to keep our minds busy and happy. Here's how...

Cook

Now’s the time to dust of the old cookbooks and have a go at creating wholesome and nutritious food that not only makes you feel good, but gives you something active to do. I made a delicious lentil soup the other day and couldn’t have been more pleased with the action of soaking the dry lentils and then making the spicy sou. Give it a go.

Crochet

So I like crochet (yeah I’m a nana) but this could be about any hobby that you haven’t had time to do in a while or something that you’ve always wanted to take up. Since we all need to stay home and find things to occupy ourselves, you can make it productive with learning a new skill through online learning platforms such as LinkedIn learning or skillshare (https://www.skillshare.com/)

Consider

Think about those less fortunate, that may have recently lost a job, had their business been affected or be in a vulnerable position with the spread of the virus. Consider Skype or FaceTime for those friends and family you haven’t been able to see, as virtual contact can be really important for everyone to keep our spirits up.

Cardio

It’s a no brainer really, get some fresh air, walk the dog, ride a bike and stay socially distanced. You’ll feel better and work off all those extra snacks you’re having, working so close to the fridge.

Cats

Well this is my most favourite of all. Instead of constantly consuming all the fear and negativity out there at the moment, watch a cat video instead. And it doesn’t just have to be cats, dogs are good too. My favourites are Bored Panda, We Love All Cats and The Dodo for a range of feel good funnies and rescue animal stories.

And being stuck at home is the perfect time to adopt or foster a rescue animal. Fostering is how we ‘failed’ and acquired one of our very own cats. I’m seeing that as our rescue centres are having to close to the public, they are looking for new foster families. It’s the perfect time to try out fostering as you’ll be home to take care of any new creatures in the house that also need lots comfort at this time, and they will add so much joy and wellbeing to your life, also allowing you to focus on something else at this time.

Collectus

And of course the other c-word you are most definitely allowed to consume is ‘Collectus’ of course. Still here for your remote brand strategy and design needs.

Even if you just want to chat to someone, or need a little advice on your brand to cut through in these tough times, book in a 15-minute chat via zoom with me here. We can have a virtual cuppa and chin-way to help you out.

Hopefully, this just gives you all some other c-words to think about over the coming uncertain time.

Stay safe and well everyone.
